Display counter for @mentions only
Can you have an option to display new @mentions only? My OCD compels me to click the button every time I see new tweets and as I follow almost 900 people you can imagine how often this happens.

I get it, same with me! I fuel my OCD with Ostrich. :)
I’m adding this in a future release for sure. Thanks!

Retweets, Followers
Much more than Favorites I use the Retweets functionality of Twitter.com. Is there any way you can gracefully integrate this?
And if there's some sort of way you can integrate follower management without clutter (even if it is just a link to the twitter functionality) that would be appreciated too.

This will probably come in 0.3 or something. It’ll let you select via a small drop-down to either retweet or retweet with comment.

Support "Lists"
Generally speaking, I tend to follow two types of Twitter users: There are my close personal friends who are on Twitter, and there are various net.celebrities whom I'm interested in. I don't really care to be notified when someone from the latter group tweets, but I definitely want to be notified when one of my close friends tweets. I have a Twitter list of all my close friends. If you could link the red number badge to a user-specified list instead of all the people you follow, that would be fantastic. Also, if the drop-down window could display the tweets… more

I hear you :) Version 0.4 or so. It’s coming. Whenever I can start working on new features and stop worrying about the server.

Facebook Error
When loading over Facebook pressing the toolbar buttons in Ostrich causes the underlying Facebook page to scroll down a few lines while nothing happens in Ostrich.

Since the server has been fixed, I will be able to work on this soon. I don’t use much of facebook but I realize many of you do.

Sometimes the app does not open a window
Clicking the button does nothing, even though it shows new tweets, so must be connecting. I can't be sure, but it seems to work once I reopen the ostrichapp page. I'm on OSX, latest Safari, etc.

Special URL Support
Currently Ostrich does not support URLs with special characters, such as those often tweeted by @daringfireball:
Clicking on the link just opens a blank Safari tab. I have to copy paste to access the link.

Been talking to John Gruber about this. It seems to be a problem with Safari’s extensions. I might have a workaround though, will come in a future release.

For some reason, Ostrich isn't loading my mentions list?
It has what looks like a button for "More Mentions" but it isn't clickable. I've restarted Safari etc to no avail.

I’m planning way better error support in the next version. Sometimes there’s an issue with either my server or Twitter. Luckily, it doesn’t happen too often.

Replies to user
One great feature that keeps me using Twitterific on iPhone is the "Replies to this Author" function. I can select a tweet and then select the above named option, which gives me recent replies to that user. It won't give me replies to that specific post, but I can scroll around to see what others have said directly to that user in regard to a recent tweet(s).
This takes advantage of a simple search available in Twitter - to:author_name

In a future release, you’ll be able to view “conversations” on @ mention tweets. It’ll display a few tweets as a threaded conversation. Similar to iChat.

Great extension except...
I love almost everything about this extension! The great look and simplistic! The only thing i wish is that you can move where the feed drops down.

Planned for a future release. I have to admit that it’s not a priority.

Show how the tweet was sent.
When tweets come into our timeline, so which application the user used to send it.

In a much later version if ever. I don’t consider this much of a priority, but I’d be happy to hear why you want this.

It worked fine until now. The button is not even active...
I've been using Ostrich for about a day, it worked fine but now, the Ostrich button is not even active. I removed it, restarted Safari, installed Ostrich, restarted Safari and nothing changed. I also logged out Twitter and tried the steps below but i can't make it work. [Safari 5 / Windows 7 Ultimate].

Not your fault. The server crashed, I’ll be working on making it more reliable and making a server-less version of the extension.

Show Twitpics over the app instead of in another window.
Have pictures that people Tweet open in the app instead of having to open them in another window.

Keyboard Shorcuts
So I've been thinking, as a feature for power users: keyboard shortcuts.
More importantly, I've been thinking this shortcut would be cool to toggle Ostrich: Cmd+Option+Spacebar.
Does that sound good or is that used by some other software?

store Twitter info, so it logs in in the background.
I don't want a standalone application, but just have Ostrich remember me.

Normally that should be the case. I know who it is by an encrypted cookie in your browser, then I associate the cookie to your user in my secure database and I have your info in there. Do you delete your cookies?

show Twitter handles instead of real names
The default for the main feed view is to show the user's avatar along with the real name associated with that account. The only problem is that I follow a lot of people/groups who's account's real name I have no idea of (does that make sense?)
tl;dr: I recognize handles more than names. Can I change this?

Bit.ly API
Would it be possible to allow Ostrich to use the Bit.ly API to allow users to track their shortened urls?
